Montgomery County Police arrested a Frederick man on Monday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run on Sunday in Poolesville.
Travis Edward Lowe, 26, is charged with failure to return and remain at a collision involving death and related charges, police said in a statement on Monday.
Lowe was driving at about 1:51 a.m. on Sunday when police say his vehicle struck Dakota Joseph Grimsby, a pedestrian, in the area of Fisher Avenue and Milford Mill Road. Lowe left the scene and continued driving westbound on Fisher Avenue toward Elgin Road, police said.
Grimsby, 27, of Poolesville, sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at an area hospital, police said.
Detectives recovered debris from the collision that indicated the striking vehicle may have been a 2020-2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 or 3500 pickup truck.
Investigators distributed flyers throughout Poolesville, and a tip from a resident helped identify Lowe as a suspect, police said.
Lowe was arrested in Frederick County and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
It was unclear on Monday afternoon if Lowe had retained an attorney.
