The Patterson Park Pool was temporarily closed Saturday because of vandalism, according to Baltimore City Recreation and Parks.
This is the second time the pool in the popular East Baltimore park closed because people damaged the facilities this summer. It’s not clear what happened this weekend, but in an incident in June there was “defecation in the pool and graffiti on the property,” according to parks officials at the time.
It is not clear when the pool will reopen.
There have been other instances since June when vandalism has shuttered pools in Baltimore, including the main pool at Walter P. Carter and Towanda Pool, which was closed during the heat wave on Independence Day weekend.
This is part of a summer trend in which some young people hop pools after hours to go for night swims, trespassing on city property.
