A Frederick man was killed Saturday in a crash involving two vehicles near Damascus, Montgomery County Police said on Tuesday.

Harold Christopher Christner, 67, died on the scene following the 7:22 a.m. crash in the 24000 block of Ridge Road, just outside of Damascus.

A Ford Transit van was traveling northbound on Ridge Road while a Chrysler Pacifica minivan was traveling southbound. The vehicles collided about 440 feet north of Hawkes Road, police said. Christner had been restrained in a second-row seat in the Pacifica, police said.

The driver of the Transit van and four other occupants of the Pacifica, three adults and one child, were hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The circumstances of the crash are under investigation by the police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
