Man pleads guilty to killing wife in Brooklyn Park in 2025

A Curtis Bay man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the 2025 beating death of his wife, whose body was found covered with tires in an alley in Brooklyn Park.

Cedric Dion Callaway, 51, had maintained his innocence in the death of 44-year-old Sarah Elizabeth Bundy. But on Thursday, the fourth day of his murder trial in Annapolis, Callaway pleaded guilty.

“The defendant’s surprise plea was certainly a recognition that things were not going his way during trial,” Anne Arundel State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess said in a statement. “This was a cold-blooded, heinous crime where the defendant killed his wife and mother of his child, then left her under a pile of tires in an alley. I am grateful that we were able to get justice for Ms. Bundy.”

In a news release, the state’s attorney’s office said it had obtained video footage of a man wearing dark clothing and a black hooded sweatshirt guiding someone matching Bundy’s description into Alley 79 near Disney Avenue in the early morning hours of May 23, 2025.

After Anne Arundel County Police found Bundy’s body the next morning with head, face and neck trauma, Baltimore Police contacted detectives to say they had Callaway in their custody for an unrelated matter. He claimed he and his wife had been robbed the previous night and he had been pistol-whipped, after which his wife went missing.

Investigators observed that Callaway lacked injuries consistent with such an attack and he matched the description of the person of interest in the video, the state’s attorney’s office said. They also observed blood stains on his hands and under his fingernails.

After being transported to the Anne Arundel County Police Department to be interviewed, the news release states, Callaway remarked that he was going to prison and he’d kill himself if he were being charged with murder. Detectives hadn’t advised him yet that Bundy was dead.

Additional video surveillance showed the couple at a laundromat on Church Street until around 12:15 a.m., when they left together. Callaway was captured on surveillance video at around 1:30 a.m. returning to the laundromat from the direction of Alley 79 “with a jacket and crossbody bag in his hands,” the release states.

He threw the jacket in a trash can outside the laundromat. Surveillance video showed Bundy had been wearing the bag earlier that night, according to the state’s attorney’s office.

Judge Christine Celeste set sentencing for Sept. 15.
